Take9

Take9 is a national public service cybersecurity campaign, launched in September 2024 with the goal of increasing the public’s awareness of cybersecurity and directing them to take steps to be secure online – by pausing and taking 9 seconds before acting. The first of its kind, the campaign set out to show how cybersecurity is essential to individual, community, and national security amongst a growing landscape of digital threats against homes, workplaces, bank accounts, but also infrastructures like hospitals, schools, and utilities.

In Year 1 of the campaign, Take9 reached more than 42 million consumers nationwide—through large-scale media placements, online content and video explainers, a dedicated website, and support from over 57 partner organizations. Year 2 sets out to expand and deepen its impact by reaching new audiences while engaging existing ones, and continuing to build a movement where people are able to take actions to become more secure online.
