Senior Program Associate

  • Day to day work involves grant-funded project management.
  • Leading the project team including regional staff with day-to-day support like organizing projects, process and strategy with clear timelines, deliverables and communication.
  • Acting as project manager for multiple major grant-funded initiatives.
  • Each day will be different, but this role will provide exposure to a wide variety of skills experience and topic areas throughout the small and growing business space in developing countries.
  • Projects will focus on Climate and Environment and/or Gender Equality.

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE), a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets, is looking for a Senior Programs Associate for our Washington, DC office. They will initially work remotely until conditions permit a return to the office.

Job Function:

The Senior Programs Associate is part of the Membership and Programs (MAP) team at ANDE and is dedicated to delivering on the organizational mission through managing special initiatives and projects to the benefit of ANDE members and the sector that the MAP team oversees. The role will serve as the project manager for specific global projects and grants such as ANDE’s Catalyst Funds.

This position will coordinate ANDE’s day-to-day Climate and Environmental work by acting as a “knowledge switchboard,” capturing knowledge across all ANDE activities specific to the thematic area. They will also help to ensure that ANDE is communicating issue-specific learnings with our members and the wider sector through events, research, communications, and more.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project manage multiple global grants and special initiatives across multiple ANDE regions – including promoting, tracking completion of deliverables and support with budget tracking as needed, coordinating project with involved staff, communicating with funder(s) where appropriate, managing grant reports, and other project management tasks as needed.
  • Managing the design of new ANDE programs including initiatives like systems change initiatives and regranting facilities – from research, to facilitating design brainstorming sessions, and overseeing development and launch.
  • Act as ANDE’s internal Climate and Environmental Action coordinator.

Necessary Leadership Behaviors and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required and 4-7 years’ experience with an international development organization, social enterprise, or membership organization
  • Demonstrated experience in climate and environmental and/or gender focused programs or research
  • Experience with databases and managing technology operations. Salesforce and Asana experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • 2 -3 years progressive experience with project planning and management
  • Strong written and oral communications skills and ability to work cross-culturally with diverse groups of staff and external stakeholders
  • Ability to handle deadlines, prioritize multiple and simultaneous projects, and demonstrate strong project management skills
  •  Background or familiarity with developing country small and growing business sector and impact investment preferred
  • Ability to work productively both autonomously and with a small team
  • Commitment to building breakthrough solutions to overlooked global challenges
  • Past experience with a membership organization or client relations role is a plus
