Help Desk Intern (Aspen)- ITS

Aspen Summer Internship Program
The Aspen Institute Summer Internship Program employs rising college seniors or recent college graduates during the summer months in Aspen, Colorado. Internship opportunities are available in various departments. All internships are paid positions.

Hours per Week:                               40+ (overtime will be paid as applicable)

Basic Function: 

The Help Desk Intern works in team environment performing customer driven requests for support, fixes/additions and problem resolution of issues with staff’s computers.  

Provide administrative, event and general support for the Aspen Institute programs and operations taking place in Aspen.  

Primary duties are related to special projects as assigned, including but not limited to, installing printers, troubleshooting printer and connectivity issues, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, hardware and software audit to update the master spreadsheets, paper records management and updating the ITS Computer Standards. Assist other programs/departments with events during the summer (ticketing, crowd control, session monitor, etc.).

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primarily project oriented as assigned by supervisor
  • Provides support to end users on a variety of issues as may be assigned by supervisor

 Principal Interactions:

Routine interaction with all levels of Institute staff and management. Assists other departments/programs with events during the summer in Aspen CO.

Knowledge, Education and Experience:

  • May require an associate degree in a related area and 1-3 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Works with supervisor to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Great interpersonal skills, including a desire to learn and the ability to be flexible and proactive

Other requirements:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Interns are responsible for their local housing, though the Institute will assist in locating opportunities when possible.
  • Authorized to work in the US 

Schedule/Number of hours:

40 hours per week; additional hours as needed.  Applicants must be willing to work all days of the internship period.  Vacation days are not allowed without prior approval by supervisor.  Schedule may include nights and weekends throughout the summer depending on events.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. This work is performed on a 40-acre campus and must be able to walk between building across this campus (often while carrying equipment).

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Level of Authority:

  • Non-supervisory position
  • No budgetary authority
