Intern, Institutional Advancement Operations*

The Aspen Institute is an educational and policy studies organization based in Washington, DC. Its mission is to foster leadership based on enduring values and to provide a nonpartisan venue for dealing with critical issues. The Institute has campuses in Aspen, Colorado, and on the Wye River on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. It also maintains offices in New York City and has an international network of partners.


Development Operations

The Institutional Advancement Operations team is responsible for the implementation, training, and maintenance of The Aspen Institute’s organization-wide constituent relationship management system (CRM), Luminate CRM. Robust constituent management is paramount to the Institute’s success as an organization that relies heavily on relationships with funders, prospects, event and seminar participants, and other key constituents to fulfill its mission.

 

Basic Function

Institutional Advancement Operations seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated intern to join our team.  The intern will assist with data maintenance activities including, data entry and cleanup. The intern reports to the Director of Office of Institutional Advancement Operations, who is responsible for overseeing data entry, technical support, and training.

This is a part-time position (15 – 20 hours per week) with the possibility of extension.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with record attachments, including uploading documents to Luminate CRM
  • Assist with duplicate record review
  • Assist with data entry and cleanup
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Education, and Experience

  • Undergraduate student, recent college graduate, or graduate student, with a focus on  information systems or related technology
  • Interest in data management, nonprofit administration, knowledge management, business information systems, accounting, fundraising, or related field(s)
  • Excellent organization skills with emphasis on time-management and efficiency; detail-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook; database experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to learn technical skills easily
  • Self-motivated with strong capacity for independent work

 

Level of Authority

  • Non-supervisory position
  • No budgetary authority

Travel

  • No travel required.
