Position Description
The Communications and Media Coordinator is a full-time position that will work collaboratively with the Aspen Global Leadership Network and its Fellowship programs to produce strategic communications outputs, strengthen organizational efficiency, and improve workflow processes to keep up with the growing needs of the AGLN and its Fellowship programs. The Communications and Media Coordinator will directly support and report to the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, Aspen Global Leadership Network. The Coordinator will also assist others on the AGLN team as it relates to communications work in impact, development, and events. 

Critical thinking, creativity, and multimedia skills are crucial in this role. The Communications and Media Coordinator will help identify new opportunities for the AGLN and its Fellowships to communicate its messages effectively and engage its community of Fellows, sponsors, and external audiences.

This role reports to the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, AGLN. The salary range for the position is $50,000 to $57,500.

In accordance with our Reimagining Work policy, the Associate should be willing to be in-person with colleagues a minimum of 40% of the time while having the flexibility to work remotely for the balance. In-person consists of meaningful connections with colleagues in an office, traveling to a different office or location to meet fellow staff members, at an Aspen event, at a meeting outside the office or other opportunities to meet in person with teammates and colleagues.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Content Production - Email, Podcast, Website, and Social Media 

  • Create graphics, video content, audio stories as well as write copy with a lens towards diversity, equity, and inclusion for the Aspen Global Leadership Network, its Fellowships, and Resnick Aspen Action Forum

  • Assist in production, design, and copywriting of marketing for AGLN convenings including the Resnick Aspen Action Forum, a variety of global Fellow gatherings, and key partnership events (including monthly bulletin, custom e-blasts, social media toolkits, print materials, Resnick Aspen Action Forum registration campaigns etc.)

  • Serve as a production assistant for the AGLN’s LIMINAL podcast, including research, booking, production timelines, transcript management, and promotion

  • Support the production of custom storytelling and development collateral (print and digital) for Aspen Global Leadership Network, its Fellowships, and the Resnick Aspen Action Forum

  • Maintain content editorial calendar for the AGLN including website content (blog), social media accounts ( Instagram and LinkedIn), the LIMINAL podcast, and e-mail

  • Support team with production of virtual events and webinars including managing speaker’s schedules, assisting on program content, creating graphics, and managing the technical the back-end of the virtual platform 

  • Support interviews with leading changemakers, entrepreneurs, and experts for digital and print content

  • Assist in stewarding AGLN, Resnick Aspen Action Forum, and Fellowship brands by maintaining brand assets (logos, style guides, etc.) and content library 

Strategic Communications and Community Engagement Support

  • Collaborate with the AGLN team to in brainstorm and implement communication and community engagement strategies for the AGLN and its Fellowships 

  • Support and staff AGLN events and seminars on an ad hoc basis - may require domestic and international travel between 1-4 times a year

  • Generate engagement analytics reports on social media channels, website, podcast, and emails and make recommendations and provide insights to the AGLN and its Fellowship programs

  • Monitor email health with an eye toward unsubscribe and bounce rates as well as keeping contact information up to date 

  • Assist Senior Marketing and Communications Manager in optimizing the AGLN website by creating new web pages and web content, onboarding Fellows to the website, answering Fellow website requests, and ensuring content is updated and accurate 

  • Monitor and engage on AGLN and Resnick Aspen Action Forum social media channels

Media Asset Management 

  • Archive and systematize records and media assets (events, interviews, photos, and audio transcripts) for use in marketing and communication materials and media content

  • Provide media assets for various communications initiatives as needed by the AGLN and its Fellowships, Aspen Institute central communications team and other partners 

  • Integrate a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens in all essential duties and work responsibilities

Department Admin

  • Process expenses and invoices for the AGLN’s Communications vertical 

  • Maintain Marketing and Communications team folders in Google Drive

  • Assist in scheduling for Senior Marketing and Communications Manager team

  • Track projects in Asana  

 

Required Knowledge, Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications, political science, film, graphic design or related area (preferred), with 1-3 years of related experience 

  • Experience in producing a range of digital and print collateral including website content, social media graphics, videos, podcasts, e-newsletters, booklets, one-pagers, Google Slides decks, etc.

  • Experience producing multimedia content (including reels) and managing social media accounts

  • Outstanding writing skills with a focus on detail and accuracy

  • Proficiency interpreting and acting upon digital analytics

  • Working knowledge of popular design and video editing tools; experience with Canva, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Premier Pro

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, and exceptional attention to detail with ability to complete projects and handle multiple tasks simultaneously - experience with project and task management in Asana or similar tools is a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines

  • Excellent cultural competence and experience working directly with constituents from diverse racial, ethnic, socio-economic, and geographic backgrounds

  • Ability to work independently and well with a diverse group of people throughout the organization

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with flexible, proactive, collaborative, and action-oriented attitude as well as sound judgment, maturity, and a sense of humor

  • Strong interest in the work and mission of the Aspen Institute and the ability to represent the organization externally

  • Ability to travel for events between 1-4 times per year
