WEAVE: THE SOCIAL FABRIC PROJECT

Weave: The Social Fabric Project tackles the problem of broken social trust that has left Americans divided, lonely, and in social gridlock. Weave connects, supports, and invests in local leaders stepping up to weave a new, inclusive social fabric where they live. The project was founded by New York Times columnist and author David Brooks at The Aspen Institute in 2018. He remains the chair of the project.

Weave supports the people (“weavers”) who are building trust and tackling key issues in their neighborhoods. It provides them with resources and connects them in peer networks. It lifts up these often under-appreciated community connectors as important leaders by telling their stories and putting them on stages large and small. And Weave aims to inspire new generations of people to become weavers of their communities.

Weave seeks to spur a nation of weavers, brimming with deep, healthy connections, where mutual trust and affection is the norm, equity is implicit, and all find meaning in daily life.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Weave’s Digital Systems Manager will lead content development and digital distribution of Weave’s multi-channel communications assets. These include the Weave website and online community platform, social accounts, newsletters, events, public presentations, earned and paid media and op-eds. These assets are delivered to a wide array of audiences, including weavers, partner organizations, Aspen colleagues, funders and the public

This position reports to the Director. The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $105,000. In accordance with our Reimagining Work policy, the Digital Systems Manager should be willing to be in-person with colleagues a minimum of 40% of the time while having the flexibility to work remotely for the balance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Digital Platform Management & Strategy

Lead the strategy, technical administration, and day-to-day operations of Weave's core digital platforms, including managing contractor scopes, timelines, budgets, and quality assurance:

• Weave's Website – Own the roadmap for site refreshes and redesigns, including stakeholder discovery, information architecture, UX/accessibility (WCAG) compliance, GEO and SEO; manage ongoing content updates, page performance, and CMS/plugin maintenance; coordinate design and IT contractor calendars and deliverables.
• OpenWater – Administer the Weaver Award grant submission database, including application form design, reviewer workflows, scoring rubrics, applicant communications, and reporting; manage the annual submission cycle calendar and OpenWater contractor configuration work.
• Social Trust Map – Drive content strategy, data sourcing, and periodic data refreshes; oversee contractor work for design, development, and data integration to keep the tool accurate, intuitive, and aligned with Weave's research and storytelling priorities. Be fluent in data systems like ArcGIS, Spatial AI, Census data and analysis, etc.
• Weaver Network – Partner with external collaborators to surface, vet, and accurately represent Weave opportunities; manage contractor calendars and deliverables to keep listings, profiles, and resources current.

Content Creation & Social Media

• Develop and execute editorial calendars across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, aligned with Weave's brand voice and campaign priorities.
• Produce original content — graphics, short-form video, photography, and copy — tailored to each platform's format and audience.
• Monitor platform trends, algorithm changes, and emerging tools, adapting strategy and experimenting with new formats to grow reach and engagement.
• Maintain brand voice, visual consistency, and editorial standards across all digital touchpoints.

Email Marketing & Newsletter Production

• Plan, write, and curate segmented email campaigns and automated journeys (welcome series, re-engagement, event follow-up) that personalize each subscriber's introduction to Weave.
• Produce and distribute the weekly newsletter via Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including content sourcing, editing, list management, segmentation, and scheduling.
• Run A/B tests on subject lines, send times, and content to improve open, click, and conversion rates.
• Monitor deliverability, list health, and unsubscribe trends, and implement best practices to maintain sender reputation.

Analytics, Measurement & Growth

• Build and maintain a measurement framework across Weave's public communications channels, defining KPIs, dashboards, and regular reporting cadences.
• Collect and analyze data on website, email, social, and community platform performance to surface insights and trends.
• Recommend and test tactics for growing subscribers, community members, and followers across all channels.
• Translate analytics into clear, actionable recommendations for staff and leadership.

Community & Technical Support

• Serve as the primary technical support contact for Weave's online community, Weaving Us, troubleshooting user issues and improving the member experience.
• Provide hands-on support to Community Hosts — locally rooted organizations adopting and implementing the Weaver Award Program — including platform onboarding, training, and ongoing assistance.
• Develop and maintain documentation, FAQs, and onboarding materials for community members and Hosts.
• Identify recurring user needs and pain points to inform platform improvements, training resources, and process refinements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with program, development, and leadership staff to align digital communications with organizational priorities and campaigns.
• Coordinate with external contractors (design, development, IT, OpenWater) to ensure deliverables are on time, on budget, and on brand.
• Contribute to organization-wide planning by sharing audience insights and digital trends that inform programmatic and fundraising strategy.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO THRIVE

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of full-time experience in mission-based communications, including implementing strategy and content.
• At least three years’ experience and confidence working with digital platforms and databases.
• At least two years of experience overseeing growth in newsletters.
• A combination of digital/technical and communications/marketing aptitude.
• A strategic mind when it comes to creating outreach plans and content, writing easily, quickly, and effectively in many formats, and knowing how to use social media as a force for good.
• Strong interest in the mission of the Aspen Institute and Weave: The Social Fabric Project.
• Experience managing vendors and consultants.
• Strong project planning and management skills and experience using tracking software.
• Familiarity with SalesForce and Marketing Cloud.
• Fluency in languages beyond English is appreciated.
• Video editing experience a plus.
