About the Position

The Leadership Systems intern will support the smooth administration of the Salesforce database that supports the Leadership programs of the Aspen Institute – including the Aspen Executive Seminars, the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN), and the Youth Leadership programs – with a focus on data flow management and the maintenance of high-quality data. This position will gain experience with data accuracy, completeness, and hygiene within a highly customized Salesforce environment, with exposure to program management and operations across multiple teams.

In addition to routine data maintenance, projects may include the documentation of business processes and creation of training materials, data analysis to offer better insight into program operations, and assisting the Development Director with fundraising prospect research and relationship management tracking.

Applicants should have excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and experience with or interest in data management, with Salesforce database experience preferred.

This position provides excellent experience for those interested in Salesforce Admin roles, particularly within the nonprofit sector.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine data audits to screen the database for duplicate or incomplete records and assist with cleanup
  • Review form submissions for data quality and proper processing in Salesforce, updating records as needed
  • Update or create documentation of the Leadership systems processes, best practices, and standardization needs
  • Assist the Development Director with prospect research and relationship management tracking
  • Assist Fellowship programs with Fellow data update campaigns
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Education and Experience

Ideal candidates will possess the following traits:

  • Experience with/interest in database administration, information management, data analysis
  • Experience with Salesforce and data management tools preferred
  • Interest in supporting the daily operations of a nonprofit organization
  • Alignment with the mission of the Aspen Institute and the Leadership division
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Self-motivated, with initiative and a strong capacity for independent work

Level of Authority

  • Non-supervisory position
  • No budgetary authority

  • None required.
