The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in developing economies. ANDE members provide critical financial, educational, and business support services to small and growing businesses (SGBs) based on the conviction that SGBs create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth, and produce environmental and social benefits.

Job Summary

The Research Analyst will join a small team dedicated to carrying out and disseminating research on the Small and Growing Business (SGB) sector. This role can be based in the United States or Latin America (specifically Colombia, Mexico, or Brazil). The position will report to ANDE’s Research Manager and work closely with ANDE’s Director of Research & Impact.

Job Responsibilities

Research, Data Analysis, and Writing

  • Support the Director of Research & Impact and the Research Manager in implementing all phases of ANDE research projects
  • Design and administer surveys and conduct secondary data collection from online sources to aggregate data related to global SGB support.
  • Clean and analyze data to identify key trends, and develop reports communicating these insights to practitioners.
  • Track new research developments related to SGBs and collect and synthesize this research for ANDE members.

Administration and Operations

  • Provide support in identifying and selecting consultants and interns to support research activities and coordinate with these consultants and interns to carry out research.
  • Manage the content of ANDE’s various online research portals, such as,, and
  • Manage administrative functions related to project funding (e.g. tracking expenses).

Events & Communications

  • Develop communications materials related to ANDE’s research activities such as slide decks, one-pagers, etc.
  • Support the organization of research panels at ANDE events.
  • Ensure the inclusion of relevant research materials in ANDE communications channels.
  • Work with translators and graphic designers to produce ANDE-branded reports and other materials in multiple languages.


The ideal candidate for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree (majoring in Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, Political Science, International Relations, or similar) with 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated capabilities conducting data analyses and visualizations with Excel; additional experience with platforms such as Stata or R preferred.
  • Strong understanding of both primary and secondary data collection methods and processes, including survey design, interviews, and use of public datasets.
  • Excellent writing skills to clearly communicate research findings through reports, blog posts, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail (including ability to proofread and design high-quality slide decks).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience managing partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interest in the work and mission of ANDE and the ability to represent the organization externally.
  • English language fluency required; Spanish language fluency preferred
