The Aspen Institute is an educational and policy studies organization based in Washington, DC. Its mission is to foster leadership based on enduring values and to provide a nonpartisan venue for dealing with critical issues. The Institute has campuses in Aspen, Colorado, and on the Wye River on Marylandís Eastern Shore. It also maintains offices in New York City and has an international network of partners.

The Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Program (EEP) explores significant challenges with diverse thinkers and doers to make a more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable society for all. Programís forums and dialogues are designed to cultivate leadership and develop collective solutions based on the ideal that both humankind and the natural world have intrinsic value. Like the Aspen Institute as a whole, the Energy and Environment Program seeks to inspire and explore new ideas that provoke action in the world.

Strategic Communications, Content Dissemination, and Writing

  • Strategic oversight of EEPís overall communications efforts related to design, tone, quality control, organizational positioning, etc.
  • Work with the Executive Director and other team members to craft an updated communications plan to support our organizational strategic refresh including : articulating goals and target audiences, identifying opportunities for growth and impact, and creating a tactical path forward to execute this strategy;
  • Develop a structure and strategy for producing content on our various communications channels (email, website, Twitter, events). Identify each channelís intended audiences and an optimal delivery schedule;
  • Lead a phased effort to update EEPís web presence and organizational design;
  • Manage, edit and plan original content for EEPís blog to highlight key program areas;
  • Work with EEP Senior Staff to design and implement a strategy to share curated content generated by our partners and participants on social media, email, and web;
  • Define, track, and report on communications efforts measures of success;
  • Liase with the Aspen Institute communications department to make use of organizational resources, and;
  • Other operational and administrative duties as assigned.

About you

  • Bachelorís degree required;
  • 3-6 years of professional experience;
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational abilities and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with detail and precision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, energy, and initiative;
  • Excellent research, communication, and writing skills
  • Ability to work successfully under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with little daily oversight;
  • A ďYes, andĒ problem solver attitude;
  • A creative attitude and the desire to tear down old things and replace them with better things;
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
