Financial Learning Specialist

Location: Washington, DC

Basic Function:

The Financial Training Coordinator will report to the Fiscal Reporting and Learning Manager will create consistent and robust learning experiences that deliver sustainable value to staff at various levels of the organization. This position will be responsible for producing trainings on all financial systems, policies, and processes that will increase awareness, drive adoption, and position the systems as valuable resources to increase staff satisfaction and capacity. The key objective for the role is to optimize the use of varied and consistent training resources with the appropriate frequency to build and demonstrate product offerings to the varying audiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with Finance & Accounting, ITS, FP&A system users, and staff using FP&A system
  • Identify training needs by evaluating user strengths and weaknesses
  • Develop a deep understanding of the technology product offerings
  •  Build and maintain strong relationships internally and with the user population
  •  Build annual training program and prepare teaching plans
  •  Create or update training materials including classroom handouts, instructional materials, aids, manuals, training scripts, tip sheets, and FAQs
  •  Direct structured learning experiences and monitor their quality results
  •  Deliver virtual training sessions
  •  Create on-demand training sessions
  •  Acclimate new hires to the business and conduct orientation sessions
  •  Assess training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught skills and techniques into employees work behavior
  •  Develop quantitative and qualitative training metrics
  • Train staff on financial reporting systems; conduct group training and individual sessions as needed
  • Maintains and cultivates the internal Host Users Group
  • Communicate with AI staff to identify training needs in financial processes; manage, develop and conduct all training sessions

Principal Interactions:

The Financial Training Coordinator routinely interacts with Fiscal Reporting and Learning Manager, senior staff of Finance & Accounting and other administrative departments, and Program staff.

Knowledge, Education and Experience:

  •  Minimum of 3-4 years’ relevant working experience, excellent verbal and written communication, project and planning skills
  •  Excellent skills of Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft applications
  •  Knowledge of standard accounting & budget principles and implementation in non-profit organizations are essential
  •  Knowledge of database software is helpful
  •  Attention to details; proven ability to work efficiently under pressure
  •  Works well in a team environment, creative thinker, and quick learner
  •  Infrequent travel for offsite trainings required
  •  BA/BS in fields of business administration, accounting, finance, business administration, or equivalent working experience in relevant fields with upward tracking record; a background in a non-profit, research or academic setting is strongly preferred
