The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE)

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is a program within the Aspen Institute. ANDE is a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets. ANDE members provide critical financial, educational, and business support services to small and growing businesses (SGBs) based on the conviction that SGBs will create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth, and produce environmental and social benefits. Ultimately, we believe that SGBs can help lift countries out of poverty.

Launched with 34 members in 2009, ANDE now comprises over 290 members who collectively operate in more than 150 countries. Members of ANDE include both for and nonprofit investment funds, capacity development providers, research and academic institutions, development finance institutions, foundations and corporations from around the world. Based in Washington, D.C. with eight offices in emerging markets, the ANDE team works hard to support members globally, and locally, while building strong ecosystems for entrepreneurial growth. ANDE develops unique initiatives to address systemic challenges and seize opportunities that can only be approached through collective action.

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE), a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets, is looking for a new Central America and Mexico Program Coordinator for our Mexico office.

Job Responsibilities

Day to day work involves a wide variety of tasks from communications to member engagement, database updates, and event logistics. Each day will be different, but this role will provide exposure to a wide variety of skills experience and topic areas throughout the small and growing business space in developing countries. Specific responsibilities include:

• Update a research database, with key highlights from the most recent Small and Growing Business sector reports.
• Update a database with fundraising opportunities.
• Gather data and produce insights about the Chapter activities and members.

• Prepare logistics and content for specific project initiatives, such as member meetings,  and Pop-up meeting focused on resilience.
• Support communication activities (newsletter, knowledge brief writing, twitter, website updates, invites, etc.).
• Manage member engagement activities such as quarterly check-in calls, facilitating connections between the network, among others.
• Schedule of, and organize logistics for, meetings and networking events for members, as well as topic area webinars.
• Manage chapter administrative tasks.

The work routine involves flexible hours and remote work to enable communications with our international staff and members in other time zones is often needed. As of today, the position is remote, but might change to being in person during the year.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role

• Has 1-3 years' of experience working in a similar role. This is not a senior position.
• Is resourceful, proactive and excited to learn and take on new challenges.
• Is organized, goal-oriented and excels at handling multiple priorities at once.
• Excels at communicating ideas through different channels.
• Is excited about the opportunity to learn new systems and online platforms.
• Enjoys supporting our team and our members for the ultimate goal of building a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in developing countries to alleviate poverty.
• Is a true team player and is excited about engaging with many cultures and learning about the sector.
• Thrives in a startup environment, where the duty is on you to make it work.
• Able to travel up to 15% of the time within the region and internationally.
• Is fluent in English. Experience studying or working in the US highly preferred.
• The position is based in Mexico. All applicants must have current authorization to work in Mexico and speak/write both Spanish and English with ease.
